Obituary: Millard L. Allen, 90, Casey Co., KY

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was the head of a large, respected Casey Co., KY family. He leaves 69 direct living descendants. He was an Army veteran who will be accorded full military honors by the Casey County Funeral Squad. He was retired from Columbia Gulf, was a member of the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department.

Millard L. Allen, 90, of Liberty died Thursday September 15, 2010 at the Casey County Hospital, Liberty, KY.

Funeral service is 1pmET/12 noon CT, Saturday September 18, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 21 S. Wallace Wilkinson Blvd, Liberty, KY, by Rev. Patrick Dolan. Burial is at St. Bernard Cemetery, 5075 S. KY 551, Liberty, KY, with military rites by the Casey County Funeral Squad. Visitation will be 6pm-9pmET/5pm-8pmCT, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville ST, Liberty, KY, with Prayer at 7pmET/6pmCT.



Pallbearers are Jerry and Terry Allen and grandsons.

Millard L. Allen, Casey Co., KY (1920-2010)

Born in Casey Co., KY, on Saturday, May 15, 1920, he was the son of the late Elish and Josie Allen. He died Wednesday, September 15, 2010, in Liberty, Casey Co., KY, at the age of 90 years and 4 months.

He was Army veteran, retired from Columbia Gulf, and member of the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alene Ewing Allen, and the following:
  • Four daughters: Carolyn and (Ralph) Kearney of Cox Creek, KY; Wanda VanWeelden of Ohio; Jeanie and (David) Allen, of Liberty, KY; and Dottie and (Gerald) Wethington of Liberty, KY

  • Two sons: Jerry and (Shellie) Allen of Liberty, KY; and Terry and (Vickie) Allen of Liberty, KY

  • Seventeen grandchildren

  • Thirty-three great grandchildren

  • Thirteen great great grandchildren

  • and many friends
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandchild.

McKinney Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville ST, Liberty, KY, in charge of arrangements.
