He was the head of a large, respected Taylor Co., KY, family and was a farmer

Charles Leonard Nelson, 81, of Campbellsville, KY died at 1:20pmCT, Monday, August 2, 2010 in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral services will be at 11amET/10amCT, Thursday, August 5, 2010, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY by Rev. Otis C. Skaggs. Burial will be in Mt. Washington Baptist Church Cemetery



Pallbearers: Jimmie Graham, James Nelson, Joe Nelson, Paul Underwood, Curtis Wood, and Virgil Wood.

Charles Leonard Nelson, Taylor Co., KY (1928-2010)

Charles Leonard Nelson of Campbellsville, KY was the son of the late Charlie Thomas Nelson and Laurie French Nelson Grimes. He was born August 6, 1928, in Marion Co., KY. He died Monday, August 2, 2010 in Campbellsville, Taylor Co., KY, at the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 27 days.

He was a retired farmer.

He united in marriage to Opal Wood September 28, 1954.

Besides his wife, Opal Nelson of Campbellsville, KY, he is survived by the following:
  • Three daughters and one son: Carolyn Whitlock and husband, Rusty, Gayla Combs, Lisa Thompson and husband, Doug, and Leon Nelson and wife, Debbie, all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • Eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters: Woodrow Nelson, Willard Nelson, Jean Bell and Mary Whitlock, all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and many friends
He was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers: Howard Nelson, Omer Nelson, Stella Underwood and Elizabeth Burchett.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to Gideon Bibles.

Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY, in charge of arrangements.
