Obituary: Hollis (Doc) Bennett, 83, Russell Co., KY

He was a farmer and was the head of a large, respected Russell County family

Hollis "Doc" Bennett, 83, Old Jamestown RD, Died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home.

The Funeral will be Wedneday, July 21, 2010, at 10amCT, At Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Cleveland Johnson officiating and special music by Southern Harmony. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the funeral home Burial will be in Square Oak Cemetery.



Pallbearers: Gregory Flatt, Dusty Flatt, Brandon Miller, Tyler Flatt, Kendrick WIlson, and Patrick Emerson.

Hollis "Doc" Bennett, Russell Co., KY (1927-2010)

Hollis Bennett was the son of the late Stella Hart Bennett and Otha Bennett. He was born Sunday,January 23, 1927 in Russell Co., KY and died Sunday, July 18, 2010, in Jamestown, Russell Co., KY at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 25 days.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judy Elaine bennett, and seven brothers, Elmo, James E., WIlbur, Brian, Houston, Lawrence, and Othello Bennett.

He was a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Snow Popplewell Bennett, and the following:
  • One daughter: Jane Wilson, Russell Springs, KY

  • One step-daughter: Frances Flatt, Russell Springs, KY

  • Six grandchildren

  • Twelve great grandchildren

  • Two great great grandchildren
