Courthouse Cajun Dinner Tickets almost half sold

Candidates, businesses, the Adair County Garden Club, and Adair County Genealogy Society have many of the first tickets sold. Time is running out to reserve one of the 51 remaining tickets. Tickets are $10.00 each.

Tickets for Robert Flowers' Courthouse Cajun Dinner, scheduled for Thursday July 29, 2010, at 6:30pmCT in the Church Park, located directly behind the Columbia Christian Church, 206 Campbellsville ST. are now one ticket away from being half sold out, two weeks before the event.

At 4:00pmCT, Lee Ann Jessee reported that 49 of the 100 tickets which will be sold have been taken. "There's been a lot of enthusiasm," she said.

The enthusiasm is not only for the cause, preserving the symbol of Adair County, but it's a bargain for a Robert Flowers dinner, which includes:


Deep Fried Turkey. Jambalaya. Rice. Cajun Beans. Cornbread and Drink. Dessert
Clubs, candidates, businesses early buyers

Already, a number of candidates have reserved tickets, including Mayoral Candidate Charles Grimsley (and Chief Mark Harris, the other announced Mayor candidate), says he'll be there. Adair County Judge Ann Melton has tickets, as do Council candidates Linda Waggener and John Ford.

Most of the tickets have been sold at the library, located at 307 Greensburg Street. Among the organizations which are coming out in force are the Adair County Garden Club and the Adair County Genealogy Society.

A few local businesses are buying tickets in blocks, including Grissom-Martin Funeral Home (4), and ColumbiaMagazine.com (3) and the Bank of Columbia (2 and growing).

There will also be a silent auction at the event. A list of items for the silent auction will be announced later. Anyone wanting to buy tickets to the dinner or to donate to the Silent Auction are asked to contact any of the following:

"The courthouse is a wonderful and important part of the history of Columbia and Adair County," Ellen Zornes, Chairman of the Adair Heritage Association, said, and reminds Adair Countians:
"All proceeds will be used toward the Exterior Phase (Phase I) which is to remove the 1978additions and restore the courthouse to its 1885 architectural look. Come join us and seefirsthand the exterior and landscape plans.

"The Adair Heritage Association is a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization whose purpose is topreserve places and property that are a part of the history and life of Adair County.

"All donations above the fair market value of the meal are tax exempt."
TICKET COUNTDOWN: at 4:00pmCT, Wednesday, July 15, 2010 The Adair County Public Library Reported 49 tickets SOLD. 51 Available, not counting ticket sales not yet reported from a few of the selling locations.
