Obituary: Margaret Ann Simpson Underwood, 75, Greensburg, KY

She was a member of a large, respected Green County family with many relatives in Columbia and Campbellsville, KY. She was a member of the South Greensburg Baptist Church and a homemaker

Mrs. Margaret Ann Simpson Underwood of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Ann Simpson Underwood will be conducted at 1pmCT, Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg RD, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Terry Boston will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 4 to 9pmCT, Friday, June 25, 2010, and after 7amCT, Saturday, June 26, 2010, until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Brian Boston, Jackie Boston, Cleston Simpson, T.J. Thomas, Tony Morgan, Raymond Simpson, and William Underwood.

Mrs. Margaret Ann Simpson Underwood, Green Co., KY (1935-2010)

Mrs. Margaret Ann Simpson Underwood of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late John Andy Simpson and Birdie Estes Simpson, was born on Friday, June 7, 1935 in Green Co., KY, and departed this life on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Hardin Co., KY. She was 75 years and 16 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the South Greensburg Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

She united in marriage to John Herman Underwood, who survives, on April 18, 1969.

Other survivors include the following:
  • A son and daughter-in-law: Phillip and Cindy Underwood of Campbellsville, KY

  • A daughter: Joyce Ann Burton of Columbia, KY

  • A step son: Ray Underwood

  • Three step-daughters: Sue Watson, Cathy Hick and Diane Dickens all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Melody Smith, Melissa Hardin and Beth Burton all of Columbia, KY; Felicia Underwood and Cambry Underwood both of Greensburg, KY; and Zachary Underwood of Campbellsville, KY

  • A brother: Bill Simpson of Greensburg, KY

  • Two sisters: Elizabeth Boston and Nonie Mann both of Greensburg, KY
  • Several step-grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Underwood was also preceded in death by a step-son: Danny Underwood; and two brothers: John T. Simpson and Cecil Simpson.The Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, in charge of arrangements.
