Commentary: Why support the Adair Heritage Association

By Vonnie Kolbenschlag

Adair Heritage Association is a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization existing to preserve places and property that are part of the history and life of Adair County.

The historian and National Trust Trustee David McCullough has said, "Landmark buildings are parts of our life; they are not just buildings. They are aids to navigaton through daily life. They are where and who we are in time."

The "landmark building" the AHA is focusing on now is the 1884 courthouse. Anyone interested in this project is invited to attend Thursday, June 10 meeting, 6:30pmCT, at the Adair County Public Library, 307 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.

Individual membership is $20; family membership is $30; organization membership is $50. These dues may be paid at the library as well as at a meeting.

We encourage all who are interested, to please attend our open meeting.
