Obituary: Mr. Rollin Gardner, 92, Green Co., KY

Mr. Gardner was a member of a highly respected Green Co., KY family and was a veteran. He will be accorded full military honors by the Marion Co. Honor Guard

Mr. Rollin Gardner, age 92, of Green Co., KY, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, in Greensburg, KY.

The funeral service for Mr. Rollin Gardner will be conducted Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 1pmCT, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Ladies Chapel Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Marion County Honor Guard. The family requests visitation from 4-8pmCT on Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home.


Pallbearers: Jerry Arnett, Lanny Tucker, Wimp Simpson, Scott Caldwell, Matthew Shaw, Kyle Ray, Bobby Ray, and Jon Baird. Honorary pallbearers: Cody Ray, Lane Ferguson, James Patterson, Tommy O'Banion.

Mr. Rollin Gardner, 92, Green Co., KY (1917-2010)

Mr. Rollin Gardner was born Tuesday, August 28, 1917 and died in Greensburg, Green Co., KY, on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the age of 92 years, 8 months, and 24 days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ. He was a Veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the VFW Post 5813 and was a life member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124 and was a lifelong farmer.

He united in marriage on December 21, 1945 to Zelma Davis, who survives.

He is also survived by the following:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Jerry Shaw of Lawrenceburg, KY

  • A son and daughter-in-law: Steve Gardner and Lynn Theiss of Lexington, KY

  • A brother and sister-in-law: Todd and Mary Jean Gardner of Greensburg, KY

  • Four grandchildren; Matthew Gardner Shaw of North Carolina, Bailey Erin Shaw of Lawrenceburg, KY; Marta Lee Gardner of Indianapolis, IN; and Kathryn Davis Gardner of Versailles, KY

  • One great-grandchild; Gared Kyle Ray of Cecilia, KY

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by two twin sisters, Mildred and Marguerite Gardner.

The Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
