Day in the Garden is Today, Saturday, May 22, 2010

This event is the primary fund raising activity for the Adair County Garden Club; many local businesses have donated great items for sale. The gathering is free and open to the public

The Adair County Garden Club's "Day in the Garden," will be held from 9am-2pmCT, Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Tucker Station, 1535 Bull Run Rd. in Columbia, KY. "A Day in the Garden" will be a festival for all gardeners, beginners and experts alike. The gathering is free and open to everyone.

The capstone of "A Day in the Garden" will be an auction of items, many of them handmade, that were donated by local businesses and garden club members.

Items include:


  • A garden bench constructed of wood reclaimed from a smokehouse at a Barren County plantation, built and donated by Columbia's Farm-2-Furniture

  • Special birdhouses built by Columbia's Old Craftsman Cabinets

  • "Historic" hummingbird feeder donated by Stotts, Phelps, McQueary Funeral Home

  • A basket made from willows and honeysuckle collected along Adair County's Harrod's Fork Creek and garden tools donated by Barger Insurance
The auction will follow a series of garden-related demonstrations, a lunch that will consist of dishes contributed by people attending "A Day in the Garden," a raffle of over $200 of garden items in a hand-painted tub, and a plant sale.

A "Day in the Garden is the primary fund raising activity of the Adair County Garden Club.
