Obituary: Helen Christine Morrison, 92, Adair Co., KY

She was a member of a highly regarded South Adair County family and was a member of the Word of Life Church

Helen Christine Morrison age 92 years of Columbia, Ky., passed away Monday, April 19, 2010 at 11:12pmCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY after a short illness.

The funeral service will be Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Pastor Troy Long and Pastor Randy Parnell the officiating clergy. Interment in the McClister Cemetery, 4136 Fairplay RD, Columbia, KY, in the Village of Fairplay, Adair Co., KY. The family request visiting after 3:30pmCT, on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at the funeral home.



Helen Christine Morrison, Adair Co., KY (1917-2010)

She was born Thursday, December 6, 1917 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Cora Helen Leftwich Mitchum. She died passed away Monday, April 19, 2010 in Columbia, Adair Co., KY at the age of 92 years, 4 months, and 13 days.

She was preceded in death by two husbands: Montford L. Darnell in 1946 and John Morrison in 1975. She was preceded in death by one son, Calvin L. "Buddy" Darnell in 2004; and by three brothers, Tobe Mitchum, Otis Mitchum and Preston Mitchum and by one sister, Ethel Harvey.

Survived by the following:
  • One son: Charles Eugene Darnell of Glensfork, KY

  • Four grandchildren

  • Four great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends
Mrs. Morrison was a member of the Word of Life Church in Columbia and was a homemaker.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
