She was a member of a large, respected Adair Co., KY, family and the mother of Robyn Curry and Lance Burton. She was retired from Frito-Lay, Inc.

Hilma Gay Burton, 73, Columbia, KY, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at 1:32amCT, at Westake Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at 10amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Richard Martin officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty RD, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Monday, April 12, 2010, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home.

Hilma Gay Akin Burton, Adair Co., KY (1936-2010)

Hilma Gay Akin Burton was a daughter of the late Gilliam and Hattie Janes Akin, and was the widow of William Burton. She was born Thursday, December 3, 1936 and died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, in Columbia, Adair Co., KY at the age of 73 years, 4 months, and 4 days.

She was retired from Frito-Lay.She is survived by the following:
  • One son: Lance Burton and his long-time companion, Garbiella Versace, Las Vegas, NV

  • One daughter: Robyn and husband James Curry, Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Ralph Akin, Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Benita Montgomery, Russell Springs, KY; and Zella Cole, Glasgow, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Derick and wife Dixie Burton, Las Vegas, NV; and Sheavon and Jacob Curry, Columbia, KY

  • Two great grandchildren: Kayla and Kena Burton

  • Several nieces, nephews, and friends
