Al Cross, Albany native, inducted into Journalism Hall of Fame Click on headline for full story plus photo of Sharon Burton, Editor and Publisher of the Columbia, KY, Burton nominated Al Cross for the honorAdair County Community Voice with Mr. Cross following the ceremony By Duane Bonifer LEXINGTON, KY - Albany, Clinton Co., KY native Al Cross, who is director of the University of Kentucky Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues, was among six journalists and one journalism educator who were inducted into the hall of fame. Before directing the IRJCI, Cross, who is an Albany, Ky., native, spent more than 24 years at the Courier-Journal, including the last 15 years as the paper's chief political reporter. Cross' career also included working for the Clinton County News and WANY-AM, both of Albany. The other members of the Class of 2010 were:
Since its inception, it has honored 172 women and men who have been exemplars in the craft of journalism. Although based at the UK School of Journalism & Telecommunications and administered by the UK Journalism Alumni Association, the hall recognizes journalists both with and without formal ties to UK.
