Obituary: Vallas Vaught, 80, Casey Co., KY

He was a member of a large, respected Casey Co., KY, family. He was a retired correctional officer, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Willow Springs United Methodist Church

Vallas Vaught, 80, Yosemite, KY, died Thursday, April 9, 2010, at the V.A. Medical Center, Lexington, KY.

The funeral service will be at 2pmET/1pmCT, Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 Hwy 49, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Kevin Pittman officiating. Burial will be in Willow Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9pmET/4-8pmCT, Saturday, April 10, 2010, and after 9amET/8amCT, Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Austin Vaught, Wesley Spears, Kenneth Monday, Phillip Brown, Steve Clark and Joe Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers: Faith and Ben Vaught, Jordan Hamilton and Katlyn Spears.

Vallas Vaught, Casey Co., KY (1929-2010)

Vallas Vaught, was the son of the late Sam Vaught and Leathie Edwards Vaught. He was born October 6, 1929, in Casey Co., KY, and died Thursday, April 9, 2010, in Lexington, Fayette Co., KY at the age of 80 years, 6 months, 3 days.

He was a retired correctional officer, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Willow Springs United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gay Vaught.He is survived by the following:
  • Two sons: Samuel and Casey Vaught, both of Yosemite, KY

  • One daughter: Julie Hamilton, Yosemite, KY

  • Six grandchildren

  • Five step grandchildren

  • Three step great grandchildren

  • Two brothers: icie Lee Vaught and Eugene Vaught

  • Two sisters: Irene Bryant, Liberty, KY; and Dorothy Brown, Moreland, KY
He was preceded in death by one son, Arvin Vaught.

Bartle Funeral Home, Liberty, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
