Obituary: Ethel L. Hammond, 91, formerly of Russell Co., KY

She was the matriarch of a large, respected Russell Co., KY family. She leaves 67 living direct descendants. Mrs. Hammond was a homemaker

Mrs. Ethel L. Hammond, 91, of Greensburg, KY died at 2:15pm, Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 at Golden Living Center, in Greensburg, KY.

Services were at 1pmCT, at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel at 1:00pmCT on Friday, February 19, 2010, with Pastor Robert Boston officiating. Interment was at Carnes Ballenger Cemetery Jamestown, KY.



Ethel L. Hammond, Russell Co. native (1918-2010)

Ethel L. Hammond was the daughter of the late John C. Helm and Florence Cundiff. She was born in Jamestown, Russell Co., KY on Monday, August 5, 1918, and died in Greensburg, Green Co., KY, on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the age of 91 years, 6 months, and 11 days.

She was the widow of Paul Hammond and a homemaker.

She is survived by the following:
  • Five daughters, Sue Strakal, Campbellsville, KY; Joan Conner, Indianapolis, IN; Linda Myers of Campbellsville KY; Mona Auberry of Campbellsville, KY; and Betty Collins of Jamestown, KY

  • Five sons: Erastus Hammond, Indianapolis, IN; Hugh Hammond, Lebanon, KY; Doug Hammond, Indianapolis, IN; Danny Hammond, Indianapolis,IN; and Carl Hammond, Indianapolis, IN

  • And 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Whittle, and one son John Robert Hammond; two brothers, Cecil and Orvil Cundiff, and one sister Vela Montgomery.

H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, Jamestown, KY, was in charge of arrangements.
