He was a member of a prominent Font Hill, KY family. He was a farmer and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Russell Springs, KY

Mr. C. Bascum Smith, 90, of the Fonthill community of Russell Springs, KY passed away at 6:30pm, Monday, February 8, 2010, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset, KY.Religious services will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 5448 E Highway 80, Russell Springs, KY, at 10:00amCT, on Thursday, February 11, 2010, with Bro. Jeff Kerr officiating. Visitation will Wednesday, February 10, 2010, after 5:00pmCT at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment at Smith Memorial Cemetery Russell Springs, KY.



Mr. C. Bascum Smith, Russell Co., KY (1919-2010)

C. Bascum Smith was born in Font Hill, KY on Sunday, September 7, 1919. He was the son of the late Henry Wise and Hattie Mary (Antle) Smith. He passed away Monday, February 8, 2010, in Somerset, Pulaski Co., KY at the age of 90 years, 5 months, and 1 day.

He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church Russell Springs, KY.

He was a Farmer.

He was the widower of Afteel (Meece) Smith.

C. Bascum Smith is survived the following:
  • Two daughters: Charlene (Limon) Harris of Russell Springs, KY; Deborah (Mike) Popplewell of Russell Springs, KY

  • A son: Charles B. (Pam) Smith of Russell Springs, KY

  • A sister: Mary Ella Conner of Louisville, KY

  • A brother: Hugh R. Smith of Russell Springs,KY

  • And by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren
He is preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Smith.

The family requests donations to Friendship Baptist Church C. Bascum and Alfteel Smith Family Life Center.

H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N. Main ST, Jamestown, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
