Obituary: Floyd W. Wise, 82, Taylor Co., KY

Mr. Wise was a member of a prominent Taylor County family, a decorated Korean Conflict U.S. Army veteran, a businessman for over 40 years, and was a former deputy sheriff and Taylor Co., KY magistrate. He was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church.

Floyd W. Wise, 82, of Campbellsville, KY, died at 7:30amET, Friday, January 15, 2010 in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral services will be at 1pmET/Noon CT, Tuesday, January 19, 2010m, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY by Rev. Vic Stansbury and Dr. Charles Hedrick. Burial will be in Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5pmET/4pmCT, Monday, January 18, 2010, at the funeral home.



Floyd W. Wise, Taylor Co., KY (1928-2010)

Floyd W. Wise of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Chester Dare Wise and Mary Eva Phillips Wise, was born Tuesday, January 3, 1928, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 7:30amET, Friday, January 15, 2010 in Campbellsville, Taylor Co., KY at the age of 82 years and 12 days.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Army and received a Purple Heart, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, The Army Occupation Medal (Japan).

He was a former Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Tom Close, a farmer, a businessman of Taylor County for over forty years and a former Fiscal Court Magistrate for the 2nd District.

He united in marriage to Pauline Sapp November 12, 1954.

Besides his wife, Pauline Sapp Wise of Campbellsville, he is survived by the following:
  • Three sons and one daughter: Dennis Wise and wife, Rita, Mary Ann Sharp and husband, Gary, David Wise and wife, Susan and Paul W. Wise and wife, Nona, all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Eight grandchildren: Kellie Wise, Nathan Wise, Allison Wise, Lisa Nelson, John Sharp, Bailey Wise, Bennett Wise and Fayth Wise, all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two sisters: Margaret Edith Parson and husband, Sam of Campbellsville, KY, and Gladys Bowen of Fairfield, OH

  • And several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Richard Wise, Albert Wise, Ernest Wise, Sr., Bessie Whitlock and Martha Rhynearson.
