Obituary: Shirley Mae Skaggs Lackey, 64, Taylor Co., KY

Mrs. Lackey was a member of a large Taylor Co., KY family and an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help until her illness. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and of C.N.A. at Taylor Regional Hospital

Shirley Mae Skaggs Lackey, 64, Campbellsville, KY, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at her home.

Funeral services for Shirley Mae Skaggs Lackey will be at 10:00amET, Friday, October 9, 2009, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 425 N. Central AV, Campbellsville, KY, by Father James Bromwich. Burial in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg RD, Campbellsville, KY.



Pallbearers are Brad Lackey, B.J. Lackey, Keith Lackey, Ricky Edwards, Cody Edwards, Jeremy Edwards, and Jack Nance III. Honorary Pallbearers are Helen Bohanon, Desiree Nance Pat Forbis, Mallory Edwards, Robin Perry, Tiffany Edwards, Sherry Edwards, Helen Nance, Amanda Forbis, Alexia Lackey, Connie Lackey, and Katie Perry.

Shirley Mae Skaggs Lackey, 64

Shirley Mae Skaggs Lackey, of Campbellsville, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at the age of 64 years, 2 months, and 17 days. She was lovingly surrounded by a host of family and friends at home. She was the daughter of the late Roscoe Skaggs and Harlan and Helen Bohanon. She was born in Maple, Taylor Co., KY on July 19, 1945.

She was married to Allen Lackey on January 17, 1961. They enjoyed 48 years together. He survives.

She was a long time employee of Fruit of the Loom and proud to be a C.N.A. at Taylor County Hospital. She was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help until her illness.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by the following:
  • A son: Brad and wife, Connie of Campbellsville, KY

  • Daughters: Sherry and husband, Ricky Edwards of Walnut, MS, and Desiree and husband, Jack Nance, III of Magnolia, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: B. J. Lackey, Keith Lackey, Cody Edwards, Mallory Edwards, Tiffany Edwards, Jeremy Edwards, Helen Nance

  • A great-granddaughter: Alexia Lackey

  • Two sisters: Pat and husband, Lanny Forbis of Campbellsville, KY, and Robin and husband, Archie Perry of Tucson, AZ

  • Two brothers: Roscoe Skaggs, Jr. of Casey Creek, KY, and Roger Skaggs and wife, Joyce of Bardstown, KY

  • Nieces: Selina and husband, Kevin Hughes of Ohio, and Amanda and husband, Judd Furkin of Campbellsville, KY

  • Nephews: Joe Perry of Raleigh, NC, and James Perry of Tucson, AZ

  • Great-niece: Katie Perry of Tucson, AZ

  • Two aunts: Imogene Shofner and Frances Skaggs

  • An uncle, Winsfred Skaggs.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Skaggs January 6, 1948.
