She was a member of a very large, respected Adair County family. She will be returned from Columbus, IN for funeral service in Columbia, KY and burial in Bearwallow Cemetery

Rissie Burton, 88, Columbus, IN, died Friday, September 25, 2009, at 1:15amET at the Columbus Regional Hospital.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Kenneth Lee and Rev. Bobby Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in Bearwallow Cemetery, 6132 Liberty RD, Columbia, KY, between the communities of Vester and Christine on KY 206. Visitation will be on Monday, September 28, 2009, from 2pm-8pmCT at the funeral home.



Rissie Burton, Adair Co., KY native (February 13, 1921 - September 25, 2009)

Rissie Burton native of Adair Co., KY, she born February 13, 1921, the daughter of the late Jim and Zora Barnes Burton and died September 25, 2009, in Columbus, IN, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 23 days.

She was the widow Joseph Coy Burton and was a member of General Baptist Church.Survivors include the following:
  • One son: Mike and his wife Sue Burton, Albany, KY

  • Four daughters: Jean Murray, Lois and her husband Ray Wright, Sharon and her husband Phillip West, and Gayle Burton, all of Columbus, IN
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Rufus, and Nolan Burton; and two sisters Wilma Combest and Clara DooleyGrissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY is in charge of funeral arrangements.
