Obituary: Elizabeth Rooks, 86, Adair Co., KY

Mrs. Rooks was the head of a large, respected East Adair County family. She attended Freedom Separate Baptist Church and was a homemaker

Elizabeth Rooks, age 86 years, of 976 Rooks-Denton Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009 at 9:05pm at Norton Hospital inLouisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Monday, July 20, 2009 at 1:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY with Bro. Willard Bryant the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Freedom Cemetery. Visitation after 4:30pmCT, Sunday, July 19, 2009, at the funeral home.



She was born November 11, 1922, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Grant Hare of Russell Co., KY

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edd Nell Rooks. on April 5, 1998. She was preceded in death by two children,Jerry Houston Rooks in 1953 and by Linda Sue Rooks in 1953.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two sons: Larry Rooks and wife Tracey, Milltown, KY, andSteve Rooks and wife Samantha, Columbia, KY

  • Two daughters: Faye Womack and husband David, and Phyllis McClister and husband, Clynus of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Elva Hare of Russell Springs, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
She attended the Freedom Separate Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY in charge of funeral arrangements.
