Obituary: Kirby Coomer, 61, Columbia, KY

Mr. Coomer was a member of a large, respected family. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church and Columbia Masonic Lodge #96. He was a former school bus driver for the Adair County Board of Education and operated Coomer's Carpet Cleaning for several years

Kirby Coomer, 61, 4005 Johnson School Road, Columbia, KY(the Fairplay Community) passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 at 8: 15pmCT at the Westlake Regional Hospital after several years illness.

The Funeral service will be Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 11:00amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Bro. Jim Hagan the officiating clergy. Interment in the Jones Chapel Cemetery with Masonic Rites presented at the graveside by Columbia Lodge # 96. The family request visiting after 3:30pmCT, Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.



He was born April 22, 1947, the son of the late: Vanus and Willie Pearl Shaw Coomer Johnson of Adair County, KY.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Montgomery) Coomer, of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Rene' Perkins and husband Kenny of Columbia, KY; and Jennifer O'Neal Coomer, Columbia, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Magan Nicole Perkins and Blake Perkins

  • His mother in law: Rosetta Montgomery, Columbia, KY

  • Four brothers: Donald Coomer of Columbia, KY; Johnnie Coomer of Upton, KY; Tony Coomer of Columbia, KY; and Jerry Coomer of Louisville, KY

  • One sister: Rebecca Crawhorn, Louisville, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends
He was a member of the Charity Baptist Church and member of Columbia Masonic Lodge # 96. Mr. Coomer Kirby was a former school bus driver for the Adair Co. Board of Educationand operated Coomer's Carpet Cleaning in Columbia for several years.

Pallbearers are Chris Coomer, Jarrod Coomer, Johnny Ray Coomer, T.R. Coomer, Brian Crawhorn, Brandon Lewis, Phillip Patterson, and Tim Pickens.
