Obituary: David Irvin, 46

Mr. Irvin was a member of a large, respected Adair County family. He was an employee of Waste Connection in Campbellsville, KY

David Irvin age 46, 4120 Liberty Road, Columbia, Ky. passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 at 8:55pm at University Hospital in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 2:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Bryant, Bro. Junior Holmes and Bro. Clifton Bennett the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1:30pmCT, Monday, February 23, 2009, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY



He was born December 10, 1962, the son of the late Matthew Irvin and Edith M. Burton, Irvin of Columbia, KY, who survives.

Besides his mother he is survived by the following:
  • Three sons: Jeremy Thomas Irvin, Jacob Matthew Irvin & Matthew David Irvin, all of Columbia, KY

  • Six sisters: Gearoldene Brock & her husband Ralph of Campbellsville, KY; Charlene Brock and her husband Lester, Arlene McAllister and her husband Lonnie of Columbia, KY, Libby Cunningham and her husband Ned of Russell Springs, KY, Rosemary Bennett & her husband Clifton of Columbia, KY, and Louise Patton and her husband Steve of Campbellsville, KY

  • One brother: Mike Irvin, Columbia, KY
David was employed at Waste Connection in Campbellsville, KY.

Final trip home to Bearwallow for David Irvin

The MULE DRAWN WAGON bearing the remains of David Irvin approaches the last turn of the way to his final resting place in Bearwallow Cemetery this Tuesday afternoon. As the long cortege had entered the cemetery it stretched out on 206 to beyond the hill at Vester. Over 1,100 persons had paid respects to the young man who died at 46 years of age.

To pay tribute to a friend: Remembering David Irvin

STICK HARMON, Glens Fork, KY, drove his horse, Little Girl, over by horse-van to Bob's Country Kitchen on Kentucky 206, to ride in the procession honoring the memory of his friend, David Irvin. Harmon was one of several dozen riders who followed the mule-drawn wagon, owned by Irvin's friend Albert Pike, and driven by Mike Irvin, from Vester to the Bear Wallow Cemetery. The procession stretched the full length of the route and into the church yard at one time.
