Obituary: Barbara J. Burton, 68, passes away in Liberty, KY

She was a member of a large, respected family with ties in Adair and Casey Counties. Mrs. Atwood was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and a retired sewing machine operator

Barbara J. Burton, 68, 20 Riverdale Lane, Liberty, KY, passed away September 10, 2008, 7:30am at her home after several months illness.

The funeral service will be Friday, September 12, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.



She was born April 19, 1940, the daughter of the late Crawford Wethington and is survived by her mother, Marie Taylor Wethington, Liberty, KY.

She was the widow of Bobby Lewis Burton, who preceded her in death on November 2, 2006.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son: Lewis Joe Burton, Liberty, KY

  • Four daughters: Connie Baldock, Liberty, KY; Donna Graham, Danville, KY; Janice Harmon, Liberty, KY; and Lee Ann Lee, Liberty, KY

  • One brother: Cecil Harold Wethington, Stanford, KY

  • Four sisters: JoAnn Atwood, Bernel Atwood, and Anita Wheeler, all of Liberty, KY, and Terry Goode of Bardstown, KY

  • And 15 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and six step great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Peek, on August 24, 2006, and by one sister, Renee Wethington.

She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church and was a retired sewing machine operator.
