Obituary: Jean Grant, 63, Glens Fork

Mrs. Grant was a member of a large, respected family. She was a founding member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Russell Springs and treasurer for the congregation

Jean Grant, 63, of 2712 Highway 55 South, Columbia, KY, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at 7:38pmCT, at her home, after an illness.

The funeral service will be Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 3:00pm, at Grissom-Martin Funeral home with Bro. Danny Brummett officiating.



Mrs. Grant was a daughter of the late Leslie Paul and Laura Ann Rowe Coomer, a founding member and treasurer of Russell Springs First Church of the Nazarene, and a homemaker.She was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Grant, January 6, 2007, by two sisters and a brother, Lou Annie Estes, Lula Mae Purvis, and James Leslie Coomer.Survivors include the following:
  • Four daughters: Patricia Kerr, Columbia, KY; Teresa and her husband Kent Poling, Crestwood, KY; Crystal and her husband Bryan Caldwell, and Vickie Burgess all of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Randy and his wife Kim Grant, Columbia, KY

  • Three brothers: J.C. Coomer, Breeding, KY; Russell Coomer, Louisville, KY; and Paul Coomer, Somerset, KY

  • Six sisters: Mildred Vaughan, Glasgow, KY; Victoria Coomer, Irene Warner, and Lena Bell Bryant, all of Louisville; Marie Monfort, North Carolina; and Peggy Freeman, Lexington, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, 12 nieces, 12 nephews, 34 great-nieces, and 18 great-nephews.
Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY after 1:00pmCT, Friday, January 25, 2008.

Memorials are suggested to either Hospice of Central KY or her church.

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
