Mary Elizabeth Coomer, 79, dies in Louisville, KY

An Adair County native, she was a member of a large, respected Western Adair County family. She was a member of New Cut Baptist Church.

Mary Elizabeth Coomer, 79, Louisville, KY died Thursday, August 23, 2007, at her residence after an illness.

The funeral service will be Monday, August 27, 2007, at 11:00am CT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.




A native of Adair County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Nannie Corbin Scott and a member of New Cut Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joe Coomer, Louisville, KY, and the following:
  • Five children: Pat and her husband Otley Richard, Columbia, KY; Bill and his wife Sheila Coomer, Louisville, KY; Wanda and her husband Bruce Cecil of Cincinnati; Jerry Coomer, Fairdale, KY; and Darrell and his wife Brenda Coomer, Louisville, KY

  • One brother: Harlan Scott, Shepherdsville, KY
Visitation will be Sunday, August 26, 2007, from 2-8pm at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY.

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
