Obituary: Bobby Keltner, 73, member, Columbia UMC

A member of a leading Adair County family, Mr. Keltner was a Columbia businessman who was in the painting business for a time with his father, the late Columbia Mayor Hollis Keltner. He was also a popular South Central Kentucky auto salesman

Bobby Keltner, 73, Stanford, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2007, at 4:56am, at the Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, KY, after an illness.

The funeral service will be Sunday, August 19, 2007, at 1:00pm CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Rev. Don Scilley officiating.



He was born July 1, 1935, the son of the late Hollis and Alice Blaydes Keltner of Columbia, KY.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Joyce Neal McGowan Keltner on March 7, 1967, and by Laverne Gaskins Keltner in February 1992.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Carlotta Keltner, Louisville, KY; and Bridget Singleton and husband, Jeff, Stanford, KY

  • Four grandchildren:
  • Ashley Norvell, Brittany Sandusky, Corey Rogers, and Kelsey Singleton
  • Two great grandchildren: Abbey and Parker Norvell
He was preceded in death by three infant brothers and one infant sister.

Bobby Keltner was a retired painting contractor who started in business with his father, former Columbia Mayor Hollis Keltner. He was a very popular car salesman who worked at Phelps Motor Company and other dealerships in Columbia. Mr. Keltner was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church.

Interment will be in Columbia Cemetery.

The family requests visiting after 4:00pm on Saturday, August 18, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.
