Obituary: Lucille Sneed, 84, member Big Creek Baptist

Mrs. Sneed was the head of a large, respected Adair County family

Lucille Sneed, 84, a resident of Sunrise Manor, Hodgenville, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Monday, July 30, 2007, at 6:50pm at Sunrise Manor.

The funeral service will be Thursday, August 2, 2007, at 11:00am CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Janes officiating.



She was born January 23, 1923, the daughter of the late William Dewey and Iva Mae Keltner Baker.

She was married to Charles Austin Cole, who preceded her in death in February 1961. Later, she married Gilbert Sneed, who preceded her in death in 1973.

She is survived by the following:
  • Tom Cole and his wife, Gloria, Elizabethtown, KY; and Gary Cole of Dawsonville, GA

  • Two sisters: Geneva Yarberry, Columbia, KY; and Dee janes and her husband, Russell, Cave City, KY

  • Four brothers: Sonny Baker and his wife Paula and Garlan Baker and his wife of Greensburg, KY; Dulath Baker and his wife, Jean, Columbia, KY; and Gleason Baker and his wife Bonnie of Lexington, NC

  • Two grandchildren: Michael Cole and Amy Martin

  • One great grandchild: Amaya Martin

  • Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends
He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother, Bertha marie Baker, Ruby Land, Clara Adams, and Thomas Baker.

She was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Interment will be in Sparks Cole Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Galilean Children's Home in Casey County and may be made at the funeral home.

The family requests visitation from 4:00 to 7pm CT, Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.
