Obituary: Zelpha Gay Farris, 78, Louisville, KY

Mrs. Farris was a member of Highland Park Christian Church, Louisville; She was of a respected Adair County family with many relatives here

Zelpha Gay Farris, 78, Louisville, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Friday, March 23, 2007, at 4:20am, at Wesley Manor Retirement Center in Louisville.

Funeral services are Monday, March 26, 2007, at 1:00pm CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ralph Hadley officiating.



She was born June 10, 1928, the daughter of the late Frank and Edith Neat Rigney. She was the widowof Willie "Bill" Farris who preceded her in death on July 5, 1978.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two sons: Harry L. Farris and his wife Debbie of Louisville, KY; and Bobby L. Farris and his wife Lisa D. of Albany, GA

  • One daughter: Connie L. Cromwell and her husband Charles of Shepherdsville, KY

  • Three brothers: J. W. Rigney, Irvin Rigney and Frank Rigney, Jr. all of Louisville, KY

  • Two sisters: Louise Long and Betty Akin, both of Columbia, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Jennifer Haney, Jessica Farris, Stacey Garris, Felecia Farris and Zachary Farris

  • And four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by one sister Pauline Scearce.

Mrs. Farris was a member of Highland Park Christian Church in Louisville anda homemaker.

Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery, Liberty Road, Columbia, KY.

The family requests visitation after 2:00pm CT Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
