Obituary: Estelle C. Sewell, 84, member United Methodist Church

Mrs. Sewell was a teacher whose career spanned 35 years in Adair and Jefferson County Schools

Estelle C. Sewell, 84, 1755 Hodgenville RD, Greensburg, KY, formerly of Louisville, KY, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007, at 12:54pm, at her home after a long illness.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at 1:00pm CT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, Ky, with Rev. Jared Henry and Jonathan Willis the officiating clergy.



She was born August 20, 1922, the daughter of the late Clarence and Nancy Margaret Harper Coomer of Adair County, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Sewell, on December 28, 2002.

Mrs. Sewell taught for 35 years in Adair County and Jefferson County School Systems. She was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son and daughter in law: Ron and Marilyn Sewell of Greensburg, KY

  • One daughter and son in law: Margaret and Steve Lawrence, Paducah, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Jerry Sewell, Jon Lawrence, and Brittany L. Phillips

  • Three step grandchildren: Michael Hendrickson, Ryan Hendrickson, and Michelle Hendrickson

  • And nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mae McKinley.

The family requests visitation after 3:30pm CT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY.

Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
