Obituary: Beatrice Jessee, 74, business leader

Beatrice Jessee was Vice President of Adair Progress for 18 years and had worked at Universal Castings Corporation for 34 years

Beatrice Jessee, 74, 40 Newspaper Circle, Columbia, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at 9:35pm at her home, after an illness.

The funeral service will be Sunday, February 25, 2007, at 1:00pm CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Bro. Stanley Watson the officiating clergy.



She was born September 19, 1932, the daughter of the late Everett and Edna Humes Hale and the widow of James Olie Jessee, who preceded her in death on May 25, 1988. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Dale Jessee, in 1955, and a step son, John Woodrick, JR, and by two sisters, Bernice Veldman and Betty Sue Hale.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Paul Oprzedek, of Warsaw, MO; and Jacqueline Burton, Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Donald Hale and his wife, Gerry; and Ronald Hale and his wife, Karren, all of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Ramona Rogers and her late husband, J.U., of Columbia, KY

  • Two half-brothers: Everett Hale, JR, Shepherdsville, KY; and Larry Hale, Jeffersonville, IN

  • One half-ister: Brenda Fautz, Louisville, KY

  • Special friend: John C. Woodrick, Columbia, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Jaclyn Oprezedek, Jason Oprezedek and his wife, Dee; Jamie Mathews, Edward Schroeder and Sherry Golding
She was preceded in death by one grandson, James Dennis Usrey; and by a half-brother, Kenny Hale.

She was a loving grandmother of 11 Great Grandchildren.

She was Vice-President of Adair Progress for 18 years and had worked at Universal Castings Corporation in Chicago, IL, for 34 years.

Interment will be in Harrodsfork Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 1:30pm CT, Saturday, February 24, 2007, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.
