Obituary: Flossie Beard, 74, member Bethany Baptist Church

Mrs. Beard was the matriarch of a respected Milltown family

Flossie Beard, 74, 124 Milltown Road, Columbia, KY(Milltown Community), passed away suddenly Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 2:20am CT, at the Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room in Columbia, KY.

The funeral service will be Saturday, December 16, 2006, at 1:00pm CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, with Rev. Allan Durrett and Rev. Clifton Rodgers officiating.



She was the daughter of the late Otis and Eva Franklin Rodgers of Adair County, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Lewis "Buster" Beard, on May 3, 1994.Mrs. Beard is survived by the following:
  • Three sons: Steve A. Rodgers and wife, Esther, of Greensburg, KY; Timmy Beard and wife, Cami, Columbia, KY; David Beard and wife, Angie, Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Clifton Rodgers, Fairdale, KY; and L.C. Rodgers, Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Louvenia Bryant, Columbia, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Kerry Lee Rodgers, Jennifer Lynn Beard, Jessica Lanier Beard, Hayley Cheyenne Beard, Cassandra Marie Webb

  • Three great grandchildren: Mya Alexis Beard, Donavan Beard, Madison Lanier Beard

  • One step grandson: Lloyd Willis

  • Two step great grandchildren: Caleb and Laura Willis
She was preceded in death by one infant son, Milton Boyd Beard; and two sisters,Fannie Rodgers and Nona Burton

Mrs. Beard was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Interment in the Tarters Chapel Cemetery, Milltown, KY.

The family requests visiting after 3:00pm CT on Friday, December 15, 2006, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
