Obituary: Elrena Dooley Russell, 77, Baptist Church

Adair native remembered as wonderful mother and homemaker. She leaves a large family to mourn her passing

Elrena Dooley Russell, 77, G. Russell RD, Columbia, KY, died Sunday, December 10, 2006, at UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY.

The funeral service is at 10:00am CT, Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 North Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Rev. Billy Dunbar officiating.

She was born June 19, 1929, in Adair County, KY, the daughter of Ethel Goodin Dooley and Elvin Dooley.



She was preceded in death on December 4, 1998, by her husband, Garold "Garry" Russell.

She is survived by the following:
  • Six children, Gary Keith (Ann) Russell, Oceanside, CA; Carol (Bill) Bolt, Liberty, IN; Judy Russell, Sharonville, OH; Rita (Pete) Blum, Cincinnati, OH; Mary Russell, Akron, OH; and Melody Pollard, Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Whitey (Judy) Dooley, Monroe, MI; Robert (Linda) Dooley, Bethel, OH

  • Ten grandchildren: Shane Pollard, serving in Iraq; Keith and Jarrod Russell, Pete and Steve Blum, Matthew and Cherish Bolt, Mike Smith, Emily Duke, and Tammy Wright

  • Fifteen great grandchildren

  • Special friends and caregivers: Leeta and Sheila

  • And many other relatives and friends
Mrs. Russell was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She was a member of the 9th Street Baptist Church in Cincinnati, OH.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Martin Russell; a daughter, Susan Russell; a grandson, Eric Metsch; and a brother, Elmer Dooley.

Interment will be in McBeath Cemetery in Russell County.
