Obituary: Lucille Burton, 75, Bearwallow UMC

Lucille Burton, age 75, of 1919 Vester Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2006. For the past seven months, because of declining health, she made her home with her family in Edinburgh, IN.

Visitation begins Sunday, December 3, 2006, after 2:00pm, CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, kY.



She was the daughter of the late Tim & Mary Jane Burton of Adair County, KY,

She married Robert William Burton on December 13, 1947, and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1983.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Darlene Foster and husband Ralph of Columbia

  • Two sons: Lewis Burton and wife Hettie of Edinburgh, IN, and Ricky Burton and wife Lisa of Taylorsville, IN

  • Two brothers: Charles Burton and wife Peggy, and Randall Burton and wife Judy, all of Columbia

  • Five sisters: Bernice Cowan and husband Calvin, Loeta Redmon, and Phyllis Shirley and husband Donnie all of Columbia, Madeline Grider and husband Dan of Anderson, IN, Joyce Rodgers of Taylorsville, IN

  • Three grandchildren: Timothy Foster, Melissa Monson and Brian Foster

  • Four great grandchildren: Ashley Melson, Kristen Monson, Macey Foster and Christopher Sharpe
She was preceded in death by a son: Jeffrey Burton, and a sister Betty Jean Burton.

She attended the Bearwallow United Methodist Church for many years and in latter years the Bloomington Chapel and Who So Ever Will Community Church in Edinburgh, IN. She worked for 19 years at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 4, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bearwallow United Methodist Church.

Clergy officiating will be Rev. Lewis Burton, Ricky Burton and Ralph Foster.Interment will be in the Bearwallow Cemetery.

The family requests visitation Sunday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Memorials may take the form of a donation to the Bearwallow Cemetery Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
