Memorial service for Craig Williams is Sat., Nov. 11, 2006

A memorial service for popular Columbia businessman, Utilities Board Commissioner, and Civic Leader Craig Williams will be Saturday, November 11, 2006, at 1:00pm CT, at the Columbia United Methodist Church in Columbia, KY, with Rev. David Alexander the officiating clergy .


Mr. Williams died October 31, 2006, while on vacation at St. Maartens, Netherlands Antilles, while on his 15th year vacationing on the Caribbean Island. He was 62.

Mr. Williams was owner and manager of Dreamland Motel. He was active in civic affairs of the community, and was on the Board of Commissioners of the Columbia-Adair County Utilities Commission at the time of his death. He was a Mason and a Shriner, and was a faithful member of the Columbia United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Collins Williams, and the following:
  • Three sons and their spouses; Kelley and Amy Williams, Ankeny, IA; Shawn and Jane Williams, Louisville, KY; and Patrick and Joanna Williams, Columbia, KY

  • Eight grandchildren: Luke, 14, Adam 11, and Nathan, 9, the three sons of Kelly and Amy Williams; Corey, 4, and Courtney, 3, the children of Shawn and and Jane Williams; and Lauren, 9, and Logan, 4, the children of Patrick and Joanna Williams.

  • A sister: Bonnie Mancuso, Lexington, KY

  • His father-in-law: Luther Collins, Columbia, KY

  • And a network of wonderful friends, who, like Craig Williams, loved life
He had chosen cremation, and had instructed the family to spread his ashes in the ocean. A service in St. Maartens was held Saturday, November 4, 2006.

"He's in paradise," his wife, Brenda, said.
