Obituary: Bobby Lewis Burton, 72, passes away in Liberty, KY

Mr. Burton leaves a large family. He was a farmer and worked in a number of sawmills in the area

Bobby Lewis Burton, 72, 20 River Dale Lane, Liberty, KY, passed way Thursday, November 2, 2006, at 7:30pm at his home in Liberty, KY, after several weeks illness.

The funeral service will be Sunday, November 5, 2006, at 1:00pm CT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Junior Holmes and Bro. Ralph Foster the officiating clergy. .



He was the son of the late Zack and Emma Susan Willis Burton of Adair County.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Wethington Burton, Liberty, KY, and and by the following:

  • One son, Lewis Joe Burton, Liberty, KY

  • Four daughters: Connie Baldock, Liberty, KY; Donna Maggard, Hustonville, KY; Janice Harmon, Liberty, KY; and Lee Ann Lee, Campbellsville, KY

  • Four brothers: Tommy Burton, Donald Gene Burton and Harold Burton, all of Columbia, KY; and Phillip Burton, Bradenton, FL

  • Three sisters; Mamie Cowan and Dolly Burton, both of Columbia, KY; and Sue Burton, Kokomo, Indiana

  • And 16 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Peek, on August 24, 2006. He was preceded in death by a great grandchild and was preceded in death by a special godson, Little Bill Rogers, in October, 2006. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Dennis Burton, Delmer Lee Burton and Freddy Burton and a sister Faylene Herald.

Mr. Burton was a farmer and worked in various sawmills.

Interment will be in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Casey CO.

The family requests visiting after 4:00pm CT on Saturday, November 4, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.
