Obituary: Shelia Jeanette Keltner, 67, dies in Carmel, IN

Ms. Keltner was a native of Keltner, KY. She was an entrepreneur and a successful business person in Chicago and Indianapolis. A memorial service will be held in Indianapolis, today, November 1, 2006. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2006, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with burial in Parnell Cemetery, Keltner, KY

Shelia Jeanette "Jan" Keltner, 67, Carmel, IN, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2006, in Carmel, IN.

She was born in Keltner, Adair County, KY, the daughter of the late Lloyd George Keltner and Glenna Nadine Shultz Keltner of the Keltner Community, who survives.



The family moved from Keltner to Indianapolis in 1950, where she attended high school and started her business career. She moved to Chicago in 1964, but returned later in life to Carmel, IN.

Besides her mother, she is survived by the following, all of whom will miss her greatly:
  • Five brothers: Kenneth, James, David, Bobby, and Keith Keltner

  • Three sisters: Rosemary Collins, Penny Rael, and Nancy Mirkhani

  • And nine nephews, six nieces, three grand-nephews, and two grand-nieces.
She was an office manager for a prominent internist in Chicago. But with an entrepreneurial spirit, she ventured out to start her own company, "Room-Mate Connection," in 1981, in Chicago. It grew and employed several people when she sold that business after 19 years ownership.

In 1999, she moved back to Indianapolis where she joined Keltner & Associates and had been a vital part of that organization since then.

Two funeral services will be held. First on November 1, 2006, in Indianapolis. The second service will be in Columbia, KY, with burial in the Parnell Cemetery in Keltner, KY.

In Indianapolis, IN, the memorial service will be at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 West 38th ST, Indianapolis, IN, on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at 7:00pm. Visitation at Crown Hill Funeral Home is today, Wednesday, November 1, 2006, from 4:30pm until 7:00pm, Indianapolis time.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm CT, Friday, November 3, 2006, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Rick Loader the officiating clergy.

Visitation will be after 12noon on Friday, November 3, 2006, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY.

Contributions may be made to the Kyle Michael Keltner Foundation, 1650 West 106th ST, Carmel, IN 46032, or may be left at the funeral home.
