Howard Overstreet, Veteran and Mason, dies at age 82

Howard Overstreet, 82, of Hovious Ridge, Knifley, passed away Sunday after an illness and services will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Mr. Overstreet was a member of Robinson Chapel Separate Baptist Church, a carpenter, Veteran of WWII and a member of the Casey Creek Masonic Lodge #536. Survivirs include:
  • Eight Daughters: Mary Frances Warren of Knifley, Regina Ann Burchett of Campbellsville, Judy Elaine Richards of Columbia,

    Sandra Lou Thewlis of Greensburg, Charlotte Lee Hardin of Knifley, Kimberly Michelle Bray of Campbellsville, Tracy Kaye Bray of Columbia, and Stacy Mae Overstreet of Liberty

  • Two sons: Dwight Overstreet of Columbia and Jimmy Overstreet of Knifley

  • Two special friends: Melissa Walls and Latisha Reliford

  • Two brothers: James Early Overstreet and Elby Marion Overstreet, both of Louisville

  • Three sisters: Sallie Overstreet and Myrtle Perkins both of Knifley, and Almas Parker of Somerset

  • 21 Grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends
He was the son of the late Marion Ethley and Lora Ann Jones Overstreet and was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Etta Burton Overstreet in 2003. He was also preceded in death by a son Mark Allen Overstreet in 1988, one granddaughter and two great grandchildren.

Clergy officiating will be Rev. Harlan W. Parker with interment in Robinson Chapel Cemetery at Kinfley with Military Honors by local VFW Post 6097

Masonic rites will be conducted Monday evening at 7 p.m. by the Casey Creek Masonic Lodge at the funeral home.
