Sammie Clarence Burns, 80, Green County, KY

Sammie Clarence Burns of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Cecil Mink Burns and Ella Mae Logue Burns, was born on Monday, August 20, 1945 in Springfield, Kentucky and departed this life on Monday, May 25, 2026 at his home. He was 80 years, 9 months, and 5 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended Beech Grove Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, he worked in maintenance for International Harvester, Donaldson Company, and Murakami.


He is survived by his wife: Emma L. Woodrum Burns of Greensburg, having united in marriage on August 31, 1964.

Other survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Ulis and Cyndi Burns of Louisville, Scotty and Teresa Burns of Greensburg; four grandchildren: Andrea Burns, Alex Burns, Samuel Burns, Ella Burns; a sister: Lillie Taylor of Danville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by three siblings: Dorothy Lanham, Elmer C. Burns, Wanda Mae Clarkson.

Honoring his wishes, cremation was chosen. Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 2pmCT Monday, June 1, 2026 at Liberty Separate Baptist Church.
