Dut Wilson, age 85, Russell County, KY

Elvin J. "Dut" Wilson, age 85 of Russell Springs, died Friday, May 15, 2026 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Center in Somerset.

He was born on September 11, 1940, the son of the late Arnie Estil and Molly Affie Popplewell Wilson. He was saved and baptized in 1991 and a member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church.


He and his wife Gail owned and operated Wilson & Sons Building Supply in Russell Springs for 49 years and he was a member of "Ole Boy's Toys" Car Club. He loved and collected antique cars. He was known for his quick wit and strong work ethic.

He is survived by his wife Gail L Richards Wilson of 62 years of Russell Springs, KY.

Two Sons: Timothy J. (Diana) Wilson, Russell Springs, KY; and Daniel Scott (Heather) Wilson, Jamestown, KY.

One Brother: Arnie Lee Wilson of Franklin, Indiana.

Two grandchildren also survive, Parker David Wilson and Audrey Claire Wilson.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Lynn Wilson, siblings, Milburn Royce "Sam" Wilson, Lillian Lois Wilson Popplewell, Wilma "Toots" Wilson Snyder, Ralph L. "Bear" Wilson and Arvis William "Moosie" Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 2pmCT on Sunday, May 17, 2026 in the Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, 391 East Steve Wariner Dr., Russell Springs, KY 42642.

Visitation will be after 9 on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Wilson Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Russell Springs City Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
