Gladys Hedgespeth Jones, 92, Taylor County, KY

Gladys Hedgespeth Jones of Campbellsville, daughter of the late John Dennis Hudson and Flossie Reed Hudson, was born July 12, 1933 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 2:50 A.M., Friday, April 3, 2026 in Campbellsville. Age: 92

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.


Gladys was married to Ralph Hedgespeth and he preceded her in death March 28, 1977. She later united in marriage to Vontress Jones November 9, 1977 and he preceded her in death December 12, 2010.

Gladys was a retired Seamstress at Fruit of the Loom. She was a Kentucky Colonel, a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church since 1955, a devoted Deacon's wife with her husband, Vontress Jones from 1977 until his passing in 2010, she taught Sunday School for forty five years, and loved going to gospel singings. Her latest enjoyments in life before her passing included iced coffee's, frozen blizzards, and thoroughly enjoyed reading Facebook comments that had anything to do with her.

She is survived by two daughters and one son: Kathy Vance, Janet Valentine and husband, Larry, and Denny Hedgespeth and wife, Rita, all of Campbellsville; eight grandchildren: Shaun Scott, Chasity Warren, C.J. Hedgespeth, Dr. Amber Priddy, Kellie Jo Cash, Lacey Priddy, Jake Graham, and Jon-Micah Graham; sixteen great-grandchildren: Hunter, Layton, James Dylan, Mariah, Jarett, Charli, Hayden, Kaileigh, Peyton, Paisley, Paxton, Parker, Kenslee, Aubree, Case, and Serena; four great-great-grandchildren: Addie, Avery, Lively, and J.C.; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Gladys was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Glenn Vance; and her nine siblings: Donald, Mary Katherine, Thelma, Geneva, Omer, Melvin, Tom, Margurite, and Lottie.
