Palm Sunday celebrated in Christian churches

It's Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026, the Start of Holy Week. It begins the most sacred week in Christianity, bridging Jesus's popularity upon arrival and the shift to crucifixion on Good Friday. Jesus's entry on a donkey satisfies the ancient prophecy found in Zechariah 9:9, showcasing him as the peaceful and righteous king rather than a military leader.

Waving palm branches represents a declaration of victory, reflecting the belief that Jesus is the true king. It also foreshadows the passion and sacrifice that will culminate in the resurrection. Palms will be waived during worship at 10amCT at Columbia United Methodist Church, 202 Burkesville St., Columbia, KY. An Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 3pmCT.
