Bonnie Lou Johnson Perkins, 86, Russell County, KY

Bonnie Lou Johnson Perkins, 86, of Russell Springs, Kentucky, passed away on March 9th, 2026.

Born on September 14, 1939, in Eli, Kentucky, to the late Osba Johnson and Hazel Roy Johnson, Bonnie was known for her kindness, sense of humor, and love for music and dance. She was devoted and loyal to her family and friends. Bonnie's Christian faith shone through in her loving and generous spirit toward all who knew her.


Bonnie was a proud GED graduate and earned certification as a Child Development Associate (CDA) through Somerset Community College, serving Russell County Head Start until her retirement. She was known for hosting local karaoke and was a pillar in the local bluegrass music scene for many years.

She is survived by her siblings, Avalene Atwood, Yvonne M. Stephens, Judy L. Harris, and Linda G. Baird, all of Russell Springs, Kentucky, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Rodney L. Johnson, Garva Johnson, and Roy Wayne Johnson, of Russell Springs, Kentucky.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Russell Springs, Kentucky, on Monday, March 16th, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, with a funeral service following the visitation at 1:00 PM. Final internment will be at McBeath Cemetery, Old Eli, Kentucky.

Special music honoring Bonnie's life and legacy will be provided by members of the family.

Bonnie's beloved nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family is deeply appreciative of the outpouring of condolences from all those who loved Bonnie and is also especially grateful for the loving and excellent care she received at Fair Oaks Nursing Home.

Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
