Mary Ann McCool, 75, Cumberland County, KY Mary Ann McCool passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, having attained the age of 75 years, 2 months, and 8 days. She was born on Wednesday, December 27, 1950, in Cumberland County, Kentucky, the daughter of Curtis Vincent & Ora Helen (Baker) McCool. Mary was the youngest of 11 children and spent her entire childhood in Burkesville, Kentucky. Mary was a woman whose life was defined by her deep devotion and unwavering love to her son, Curtis. She supported Curtis in everything he did and she took great pride in being an Eagle Scout mom. She loved her daughter-in-law, Tricia, like a daughter. Mary was cherished for her warm heart and her ability to make anyone feel like family. She was a wonderful cook who found joy in feeding others. Everyone loved her cooking and she took great pride in feeding as many people as she could. She also found joy in baking and crafting, often creating beautiful cakes, ceramics, wreaths and jewelry. Mary was known affectionately as Mama, Grandma Mary, Aunt Mary, and Mary Ann by those who knew her. She loved her "fur grandbabies" and they loved her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Sheldon McCool, Weldon "Buddy" McCool, Wyndle "Bill" McCool, Joyce Sparks, Leon McCool, Bernal McCool, and Elwood McCool. She is survived by her son, Curtis (& Tricia) Cary; sister, Doris (& Jimmie) Neathery, brothers, Johnny (& Ruth) McCool, Earl McCool, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Thursday March 12, 2026, at 2pmCT in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky with Bro. Gary Cash officiating and eulogy by Cutris Cary. The family will receive friends on Thursday March 12, 2026, beginning at 12 until the service hour. This story was posted on 2026-03-12 00:09:56
