WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman James Comer (R-Ky.) announced the sixteen local high school students from Kentucky's 1st Congressional District who have received nominations for appointments to the United States service academies. Two of the students are from the Columbia Magazine region and listed below.

Owen Thomas Lamer, a student from Campbellsville who attends Taylor County High School, received nominations to the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Layne Patrick Mattingly, a student from Springfield who attends Washington County High School, received nominations to the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Military Academy at West Point.

"On behalf of Kentucky's 1st Congressional District, I am proud to congratulate these outstanding students on earning nominations to the United States service academies.

These students are local leaders and will now have the opportunity to attend our nation's service academies," said Congressman Comer. "Each candidate has distinguished themselves through exceptional scholarship, leadership, and character.

Their commitment to serving in our nation's armed forces is truly admirable, and I have every confidence they will continue to excel as they advance through the appointment process."
