2026 Local election field continues to grow Candidates who must be on the ballot in the 2026 Primary Election have until January 9, 2026, to file their paperwork, but a number of local races are already starting to take shape. As of Monday, November 17, 2025, twenty-four candidates had filed to run in next year's elections, with primary contests shaping up for several Magistrate offices, Adair County Sheriff, and County Judge Executive. All the candidates who have filed so far are listed below, with an asterisk marking contested primaries:
