Jane Lampton Chapter, NSDAR has busy November meeting

From Lila Ford, Treasurer

This past week the Jane Lampton Chapter, NSDAR met at the Adair County Genealogy Research Center to hold our November meeting. A couple of items that we would like to share with you all.

First, the chapter took up the Send Our Troops Christmas Card challenge that the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution sent to all chapters, to mail our christmas cards to our troops overseas. Well, our little chapter of only 30 members surpassed that request and mailed out 331 christmas cards that we hope will express to our troops that we are thinking of them during this time of year.

We also collected items from our members to send to our troops overseas from the wishlist they would like to have with them at this time.

As you can see from the photo our little chapter again surpassed our goal, we collected 4 canisters of coffee, 7 bags of coffee, 2 boxes of sugar packets, 2 boxes of creamers, 7 boxes of adding for water, 6 bags of peanuts, 2 cans of mixed nuts, 2 boxes of breakfast bars, 5 boxes of snack crackers, 3 bags of candy, 1 box of mini apple pies and one football. We were able to fill two huge boxes for them.

We are continuing to collect more of these items to continue to send to our troops overseas, if you would like to donate any of these items for our troops please leave them with the Adair County Research Center at 307 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY. We are planning to mail more boxes within the next several weeks so that our troops know we are thinking and praying for them.

We would also like to invite any women age 18 yrs and older, who are interested in doing DAR please feel free to contact Annita Dial at the Adair County Research Center at 270-380-1024 or you're welcome to join us for our next meeting in January.
