Janie Elizabeth Weddle, 71, Russell County, KY

Janie Elizabeth Weddle, of the Mt. Eden Community, passed from this life on Monday, October 14, 2024. She was 71 years of age.

Janie was born Wednesday, August 12, 1953, in Somerset, daughter of the late Woodrow "Row" and Florence Chapman Peveley. She worked for years with Russell Sportswear, then for Lifeline Home Health. For the last 20 years, Janie worked as a CNA for Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.


She was a woman of faith. Janie was a lady who loved everyone and always put other's needs before her own. She was a good wife and mother, who loved her grandkids dearly. Janie loved reading her Bible and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Hoyt; her son, Jason (and Tracey) Weddle, of Argyle; her daughter, Elizabeth (and Jeff) Herndon, of Somerset; her sister, Mary (and Glendal) Bray, of Grand Rivers; and her granddaughters, Amber (and Charles) Wright and Lexie Herndon.

Along with her parents, Janie is preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Weddle; her brothers, Charles Peveley, Virgil Peveley, Paul Peveley, James Peveley and David Peveley; and her sisters, Virgie Dayton and Marie Lawhorn.

Funeral services are 12noonCT Friday, October 18, 2024, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 10 Friday, until time of funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42501.
