Joyce Allene (Joy) Cowan, 83, Columbia, KY (1941-2024) Joyce Allene "Joy" Cowan of Columbia passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at her sister's residence, with her family by her side. She was 83 years old. Funeral services will be held at 3pmCT on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Jordan Abell and Bro. Logan Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday after 10amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. She was born in Vester, KY on October 4, 1941, to the late Robert and Cecil Burton Cowan. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Maxine and Shirley Cowan and a great great nephew Marcus Sheene. Ms. Cowan was a member of the Bearwallow Church and formerly worked at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville for 26 years. She enjoyed cleaning her home and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include a sister Doris Hadley of Columbia, KY; her nieces and nephew Kathy Jones (Mike), Phyllis Montgomery, and Carson Hadley (Karen) all of Columbia, KY; great niece and nephews Adam Montgomery (Kim), Stephanie Watson (Joe), and Dwayne Hadley (Ashley) all of Columbia, KY; five great great nieces and nephews Marcus Sheene, Callie Montgomery, Audrey Watson, Gramham Watson, Luke Hadley, and Emma Hadley; and two special caregivers Annette Holmes and Jean George. Pallbearers will be Carson Hadley, Mike Jones, Adam Montgomery, Dwayne Hadley, Joe Watson, and Matthew Hadley. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
