Billy Spears, 86, Cumberland County, KY

William B. "Billy" Spears, age 86, of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024. He was born on April 12, 1938 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Clury and Letha Wells Spears.

He was a former employee of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and was a member of Red Banks Church. He was a talented musician and loved to play and sing.


In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter Beverly Joan Spears, three brothers Kenneth Spears, Arnold Spears, and Franklin Spears and six sisters Ocie Keen, Lucille Capps, Lena Gray, Myrtle Rowe, Inis Severe, and Ella Severe.

Survivors Include:

His Companion - Wava Walker of Burkesville, KY

Two Daughters - Katy Staley of Indianapolis, IN and Rita Powell of Orleans, Indiana

One Son - Chris Overshiner of Burkesville, KY

Two Sisters - Selma England of Indianapolis, IN and Lyda Jones of Celina, TN

Seven grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends

Funeral Service: Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 10amCT at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in Scott Cemetery. Family requests visitation on Wednesday, September 25th from 5 till 9 and after 6amCT Thursday until time of services.
