James Allen Coomer, 85, Columbia, KY (1938-2024) James Allen Coomer of Columbia passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Summit Manor Nursing Home. He was 85 years old. Funeral services will be held at 1:30pmCT on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Steve Pescosolido officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven Hill Cemtery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Sunday until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. He was born in Adair County, KY on September 25, 1938, to the late Marvin and Avis Wilson Coomer. Mr. Coomer was a member of the Trinity Church and a retired farmer. He was the former owner and operator of Gradyville Country Store, a school bus driver and worked for over ten years at First National Bank in Columbia. He enjoyed riding horses, going to the stock market and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Barbara Jean Sneed Coomer of Columbia, KY; a brother Larry Coomer (Jennifer) of Campbellsville, KY; three nephews and a niece Todd Coomer, Troy Coomer, Roger Pickett, and Patricia Willis; a sister-in-law Arzola Coomer of Louisville, KY; step sister-in-law Linda Brock of Columbia, KY, several great and great-great nieces and nephews and several other friends and relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Carl, Holland and Tulsa Coomer and two sisters Cymbaline Coomer and Genola Ripley. Pallbearers will be Troy Coomer, Todd Coomer, Stephen Coomer, Jarred Coomer, Brian Pickett, and Travis Pickett. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Parnell, Barry Hamlett, Nathan Bennett, Josh Bennett, Johnny Richard, and Darrell Harris. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
