By Torrie Osbon, Communications Director

Metcalfe County High School is proud to announce sophomore Ava Ballard has been selected for the Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (ELI) at The Center for Rural Development.

The ELI aims to grow future business leaders and entrepreneurs in Southern and Eastern Kentucky. The intensive, weeklong program focuses on developing creativity, teamwork, business, and leadership skills.

"This is an exciting educational opportunity for Ava," MCHS Principal Joseph Eaton said. "I know she will proudly represent Metcalfe County High School and show off that Hornet Hustle."

Ava is an excellent student and will excel at this new experience to grow as a leader in our school and the community.

Ava is the third MCHS student selected for the program since 2021. She is the 15-year-old daughter of Brittney and Ethan McCoy and Cody Ballard.

The summer course includes classroom instruction, guest speakers, competitions, and tours of local businesses. The concluding event will be a team business concept and the chance to compete for college scholarships.
