Coman, Garmon, Graves named NAIA Scholar-Athletes

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Thursday that a trio of Lindsey Wilson College cheerleaders have earned Daktronics Scholar-Athlete distinction for the 2023-24 season.

Two-time honorees Athena Coman and Haley Garmon highlight the list of Blue Raider recipients, becoming the program's fourth and fifth athletes all-time to garner multiple scholar-athlete awards.

Destiny Graves rounds out the trio with her first career selection.

The 2023-24 list features 234 student-athletes from 66 total institutions, who achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.

Lindsey Wilson finished tied with Cumberlands (KY) for the fourth-most honorees among Mid-South Conference schools. Pikeville (KY) landed the most honorees with 10, followed by Bethel (TN) with five.
